My books are dedicated to all those brave men who went to do a nearly impossible job and to the women and families that loved and supported them while they were serving their nation in a faraway land. To all of my brothers and sisters who served in Vietnam and who often came home to an ungrateful and hostile homecoming:

Welcome Home! We made it!

The Advisor’s Hands

A gentle hand, tending torn, shrapnel filled limbs.

Strong hands, harvesting rice for the bins

Skilled hands, bridges and roads to build.

Learned hands, teaching others’ skills

Combat weary hands, drenched in sweat.

Old hands, cared for by the young

Happy hands, clapping with joyful song

Hands, weak from sorrowful tears

I’ve seen them all, all of these hands

Here in a war-torn land,

Our hands are weary from the toil. We’ve built the bridges, tilled the soil.

We’ve seen wars thousand faces, and been its ten thousand hands.
