This is a coming-of-age story set in the 26th century. Kathy Sterling, a young orphan, is selected to attend the planet Destiny’s Naval Academy. At the Academy she shares quarters with Lady Sandi RavensPeake one of the Peers of the Realm of the Planet. As a result, they become good friends and share their Academy time and adventures.

The story follows Katy through her time at the Academy and highlights her midshipman cruises where she learns the responsibilities of a naval officer. 

During her three midshipman cruises she is forced by circumstances to assume heroic leadership roles and make decisions far beyond her years and levels of experience. See how this young country girl develops into a confident and highly decorated naval officer in the 26th century space navy.
